Gutierrez, John
John A. Gutierrez is Senior Director of Government Affairs for Comcast Corporation, the nation’s leading provider of cable, entertainment and communications products and services. In his role, John serves as the Company’s primary representative to the California Public Utilities Commission, bringing over 20 years of telecommunication public policy and advocacy experience.
Prior to joining Comcast, John was Senior Telecommunications Policy Advisor for Cole, Raywid & Braverman LLP assisting the firm’s clients with business development, regulatory compliance, and operational implementation projects. As the Director- Regulatory Affairs for TCI and MediaOne, John provided regulatory guidance for the emerging competitive cable telephony service. He started his career as a staff analyst for the CPUC working on competitive telecommunications policies.
John has been active in several community and business organizations. He has served on the Board of Directors of Vision New America and the Sacramento Asian Pacific Chamber of Commerce, John is a founding member of the Asian Business Alliance in Southern Alameda County.
John resides in Hayward, CA with his wife, Hera, and his sons, David and Ryan. He enjoys traveling, playing golf and spending time with his family.
Tanaka, George
George Tanaka is a managing director of MUFG Union Bank, N.A, and is the head of its Retail Specialized Markets division.
With more than 20 years of banking experience, Mr. Tanaka works closely with other MUFG family companies, including MUFG Bank in Japan, and is responsible for developing and introducing new products and services tailored to the Asian consumer market. In this position, he is involved in coordinating marketing and outreach to the Asian American community. Prior to his current position, Mr. Tanaka worked as a senior vice president and Japanese Market Segment manager and has also held positions within the bank in Consumer Banking, Asian Corporate Banking, and Business Banking.
Mr. Tanaka is an active member of the community and serves on the boards of the Japanese American Cultural & Community Center in Los Angeles, Little Tokyo Service Center, the Japan America Society of Southern California, and the California Asian Pacific Chamber of Commerce.
Mr. Tanaka has a bachelor’s degree in international relations from Boston University and is a graduate of the Pacific Coast Banking School at the University of Washington.
McKim, Kathy
Kathy McKim is the Principal of Hawksbill Advisors.
Kathy McKim is a talented executive with over 30 years of experience in corporate external affairs, employee engagement and sales operations. She brings a wealth of expertise with particular strengths in areas such as local and state government affairs, public-private partnership development, employee engagement and volunteerism and sales operations management.
Kathy is a Principal at Hawksbill Advisors, a Hawksbill Group Company focused on Public Policy and Government Affairs. She is Senior Vice-President for the Hawksbill Group, a diversified business and communications consulting firm based in Washington, DC. The Hawksbill Group provides strategic counsel in public affairs, corporate communications and business operations to corporations, philanthropic and non-governmental organizations worldwide.
Previously, Kathy served as Vice-President of External Affairs for AT&T, where she led California’s statewide constituency relations and operations organization. She managed a team of professionals to build relationships across various segments, work closely with state and local elected officials and engage employees in the external community.
In addition to her External Affairs leadership, Kathy’s experience within AT&T included leading national business sales operations for Global Business, directing a data solutions business center supporting new emerging technology and managing call center operations.
Kathy’s passion for service and volunteerism resulted in her appointment by the Governor of California to the California Volunteers Commission where she currently serves as chair. Kathy also holds board leadership positions as chair of the California Asian Chamber of Commerce and Teach for America Capital Valley. She is on the College Track Sacramento, California Women Lead and Sacramento Region Community Foundation Boards. Kathy was asked to become a member of the International Women’s Forum, an invitation-only membership organization of more than 7,000 diverse and accomplished women from 33 nations on six continents.
Kathy is someone who gets things done with a passion for excellence. She effectively drives results through collaboration, accountability and teamwork. As an executive in the telecommunications industry, Kathy has been recognized for her leadership as a Business Journal “Women Who Means Business” awardee, the American Leadership Forum’s Exemplary Leader of the Year and a Women of Influence through OCA. She was awarded the Citizen Service Award from the Voices of National Service for her work in education and volunteerism. She continues to serve as a mentor for many young professionals across the country.
Kathy holds a bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Public Affairs from the University of Denver and an MBA in Marketing from the University of San Francisco.
