Duong, Kathy

Kathy Duong is a legislative and local government professional with her work rooted in government affairs, public policy, and community engagement.

Kathy is currently a Public Policy Manager with Amazon, leading public policy and outreach within local communities throughout Northern California. She is passionate about equity access and forging successful public/private partnerships that benefit the community. Before joining Amazon, Duong worked for nearly a decade as a Government and Community Engagement Affairs Director in Silicon Valley working with the largest tech companies in the region. She also served as a Public Policy Director in San Jose City Council.

Kathy earned her Associate of Arts degree at De Anza College, Landscape Architecture and City and Regional Planning undergraduate degree at the University of California, Berkeley, and Public Policy and Management masters degree at Carnegie Mellon University. She currently also serves as a Boardmember for the Southeast Asian Resource Action Center (SEARAC), a national civil rights organization, and San Francisco Bay Area Planning and Urban Research Association, a public policy organization. She was named Silicon Valley’s 40 Under 40 by the Silicon Valley Business Journal in 2019. Born and raised in San Jose, Kathy is proud to have roots in a city that welcomed her immigrant parents and together with her husband, Frank, are now raising their daughter in Downtown San Jose. Kathy loves spending time with her family and they can be found connecting with the community at their shop, Academic Coffee, on the weekends.
